Privacy Policy

HomeStash is a home inventory app. We built it so that your data stays yours: no account, no ads, no tracking, and your inventory lives on your device and in your own iCloud.

What we collect

Nothing. HomeStash has no user accounts and no analytics SDKs. We do not collect, sell, or share personal data.

Short version: your inventory, photos, values and serial numbers stay on your iPhone and sync through your personal iCloud. We never see them and could not access them if we wanted to.

Where your data lives

On your device. Items, rooms, photos, receipts and values are stored locally.
In your iCloud. If you are signed into iCloud, the same data syncs through your private iCloud database, covered by Apple's iCloud terms and encryption. We have no access to it.

AI item identification

When you use AI Snap, the photo you chose is sent over an encrypted connection to our serverless function, which forwards it to OpenAI's API to identify the item and estimate its value. The photo is used only to produce that answer:

We do not store the photo or the result on our servers.
No name, email, location or identifier is sent with it.
OpenAI processes it under their API data policy, which does not use API data to train models.

AI Snap is optional. If you never tap it, no photo ever leaves your device.

Purchases

Payments are processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your payment details.

Reports you export

PDF and CSV reports are generated on your device. Where you send them (email, insurer, cloud storage) is entirely up to you.

Children

HomeStash is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
